Lobster Pot 0 (Shut out - Ward) - MR Onions 0

Lobster Pot finished the season with a scoreless draw against old time rivals MR Onions. In times gone past Pot would have settled for a draw but the new and improved Pot were a disappointed with the draw that also saw any hope of their first ever league trophy vanish. News came in that the Hood beat Tuff Dogs which meant that even a Pot victory on Saturday would not have been enough. Pot finished 2nd their best ever finish in the league. Best ever as far as the longest serving members Troy and CJ can remember.

The game was played very much in the middle of the park with chances on either end at a premium. Saleem came closest for Pot when in the second half he had a shot rattle the post. The best other chance fell to Darrel who was at the end of a pin point accurate cross but his header lacked any venom. Tommy had a shot right at the death stopped by the keeper.

Special mention has to go to:

Brian for coming into the game with 2 cortisone injections and a patched up and protected thumb.
Marek, Ben, Ken, Curtis and Jameel for some dogged and determined defending throughout the season.
CJ, Chris, Darrel, John for their great marshalling of the play from the engine room and fantastic work rates Saleem, Dave, JP, Tommy for making sure that we scored in all but 3 games for the entire season.
Steven Palmer, Ken L for their patience and perverance and last but not least .....

Troy Berkely for his time, insight and sometimes questionable management decisions during training and during the game. Troy made sure that everyone heard what he had to say and I never enjoyed silence as much as I do after I leave the match.

Well done boys......

Lobster Pot 4 (Allison(3), Mukuddem) -NVCC 2

Dave Allison netted his 14th , 15th and 16th goals for the season. the second with a clinical penalty strike and Saleem rounded off the scoring by netting his 8th in all competitions. This win puts Lobster Pot level on points with Robin Hood and Tuff Dogs who both have better goal differences that the Pot and the Hood have a game in hand. This has by far been the best run of form displayed by the Pot since I have been a Pot player 2001.
This was the 5th win on the trot and it started as if it was going to be difficult. We started very shabby with shots on goal being at a premium.
Pot played well below Par and allowed North Village loads of time on the ball. Pot appeared to be hurried without any pressure into loosing possession. The deadlock was broken just before half time when some gritty work by Dave Allison dispossessed a NV defender and aggressively charged toward the goal and showed just why he is 2 goals shy of scoring the most goals in a Pot season for the last 6 years. Half time at 1-0 and the Pep talk by coach Berkeley must have once again done the trick as Pot scored 2 more thanks to Dave Allison and thus completed his hat trick and earned a case of Elephant's. That's the last time Berkeley makes a bet with Allison.
The Pot defense without the influential Ben Cooper held out until midway through the second half when a NV attacker who with his first touch as coming on as a substitute chipped the ball over an advancing Brian Ward in one of those what was he thinking moments. In fairness Brian took one for the team as during the warm up he managed to badly bruise his thumb as he displayed during the halftime break. It looked painful. Pot got a 4th courtesy of a superb Ken L through ball finding Saleem who beat the off side trap and the nagging moaning NV defenders and neatly rounded the keeper to slot the ball into the back of the net. NV managed another before the end and Pot got what they came for. 3 points and a 2 goal improvement in their goal difference.

Tuff dogs has a 4 goal advantage over Lobster Pot in the net goal difference stakes

Lobster Pot 2 (Allison, Dyer) -Tuff Dogs 1

Pot started this game very much where they left off against Key West last week. 2 goals within the first 20 minutes rattled the Tuff Dog defense.
They could not cope with the pace of Saleem Mukuddem truly and it was no accident nor surprise that Saleem played a major part in the first goal. A fantastic through ball from Chris Way who definitely enhanced his chances in the Player of the year award stakes this week found Saleem who raced onto the ball, held off a few defenders and slipped the ball neatly across the front of goal to CJ who found himself in the unfamiliar role of being the third striker in a 3-4-3 formation. CJ unselfishly passed it to the ever dangerous and Pot top goal poacher Dave Allison who calmly slotted the ball passed the advancing TD keeper. Pot dominated the first half and the 3 defenders Ken, Marek and Ben once again had a solid performance. Manchester United would give an arm and a leg to have a defense as tight as the Pot's.
It is no wonder that Pot has the 2nd best defensive record in the Commercial league A (tie with BAA). The second goal came from a Curtis free kick towards the far post. Editors Note: Pot were awarded a free kick, and from about 40 yards away JP looked at Curtis and pointed to the third shoelace up on his right boot, where he effortlessly placed the ball before JP took a beautiful first touch and clinically placed a shot past the keeper.  The ball cleared all the defenders and JP playing right half could not believe the amount of space he had and clinically slotted the ball into the back of the net. Pot should have finished off TD had Saleem copied Dave or JP's clinically finishing but his presence and pace must surely have caused TD a huge headache. Just as Brian the Pot Keeper was heading for a clean sheet (shut out for our North American viewers) the ball took a wicked deflection out of his hands and directly into Ken's face and it fell sweetly for the TD attacker to half the deficit. Brian must love the Britney Spears song...."Oops I did it again".TD could not find an equalizer and they should remember it's not how you start but how you finish. Pot did the double over Tuff Dogs and they should be considering changing there names to Lame puppies after seeing the league slip out of their grasp. Pot are 3 points behind Robin Hood and TD with a game in hand over TD.

It can't get any more exciting than this. A poll on the Lobster Pot website at the start of the year asked what the Pot chances were of winning the league this year and 39% of the 28 votes that were cast said "watch out Hood" if only Ladbrokes were taking bets, Dave Allison would have welcomed those odds. The 18% who said "B division here we come" were glad they did not place any bets.

Lobster Pot 2 (Mukuddem, Gribbin) -Key West 0

The game was going to be anything but drab when Pot manager Troy Berkley decided to play with a 3-4-3 formation and it proved to be a masterstroke.

Pot who have never beaten Key West since they gained promotion to the Commercial A division were out of the starting blocks as quick as Ben Johnson (the disgraced Canadian sprinter) while he was on steroids. Saleem rose majestically between two KW defenders to direct a powerful header into the back of the net at the near post from a Jameel corner with 1 minute 10 seconds on the clock. Pot dominated the half and on this day as everything clicked into place. Pot keeper Brian Ward caused havoc with his wind assisted goal kicks as the KW defenders struggled to control the bouncy ball knowing that a Pot attacker was charging down the ball every time. Pot created several chances and KW were fortunate to be only 1 goal down at half time. KW did have a shot come off the cross bar. Ben, Marek and Ken defended like men possessed.

Pot went 2 up midway through the second half when the 3 attackers all combined with Tommy getting the final touch. Saleem received the ball just inside the KW half and made some in road before chipping delightfully for JP who right in front of goal with only the keeper to beat unselfishly flicked (unintentionally) the ball to Tommy at the far post who was left with a easy tap in. Brian made a few excellent saves during a brief spell of sustained pressure from KW as they struggled to get back into the game.
Pot has several chances to kill off the game but held on for a memorable 2-0 victory. On a lighter side Chris will not play with indoor studs again and Curtis will be working on what to do after beating the entire defense.

Pot have now laid to rest the Key West Voodoo.

Lobster Pot 2 (Dyer, Gribbin)-BAA 1

Lobster Pot made certain of another 3 points by beating 10 man BAA 2-1. Lobster Pot themselves ended with 10 men with CJ being sent off halfway through the first half for foul language. Saleem will ensure that the team knows a few Afrikaans curse words so the ref will not understand them when we shout, Naai, vark, poes etc.

The game was not a good spectacle but 3 points is all the Pot players wanted to take from this game and they did. It was a scrappy affair with not too many chances. Pot drew first blood with JP latching on to a Jameel Effendy free kick and scoring with a powerful header. He rose unchallenged at the fast post and guided his header firmly passed the BAA keeper who earlier or later (can't remember) lashed out at CJ who in keeping with his frame of mind coming into this match retaliated verbally and thereby getting himself sent off by the referee. The same referee who communicates telepathically with the players and had Ken sent off earlier in the season. A BAA player not wanting to be outdone cursed at a challenge and unfortunately for him the referee being as bad as he is deserves credit for being consistently bad. Both teams were down to 10 men before half time.

Pot looked comfortable and would surely have taken their lead into half time when .......  A blazing Cross from a BAA Player took a horrible bounce of the very uneven Ground  in front of the goal and ending up leaving the BAA player with the easiest tap in to equalize.

Pot came out in the 2nd half much stronger. Pot had the Lions share of the possession but failed to make that count. Jameel Effendy playing in his familiar winger/defender role had several telling runs down the line but failed to provide the final cross when needed. He was so surprise to find himself with keeper to beat that he could not score even after having 3 consecutive shots blocked. Darrel was by far the busiest defender and once again had a fantastic work rate. The winner came halfway through the second half when a glorious Tommy (who else...ex BAA) Toe poke beat the BAA keeper who was flat footed and could hardly believe the accuracy of the poke. It was an inspirational substitution bringing on Tommy for the not yet 100% Lappin. Troy made a rare appearance and came on for Saleem who suffered a

groin strain midway through the 2nd half. Pot finished the stronger and secured a valuable 3 points.

Well done boys. 4 of the toughest matches remaining. Full steam ahead.

Lobster Pot 8 (Allison(4), Effendy, Dyer, Mellor, Way)-Dev All Stars 0

Pot made certain of 3 points with a very convincing scoreline over Devonshire all duds and in the process drastically improved their goal difference. For our North Americans readers they improved their Percentage of goals scored vs goals against. Pot should have at least scored 20 goals but wasted chances proved the order of the day. Let's hope that we used up all our wasted chances for the season. The Pot keeper must have had his most uneventful game of the season. Pot finished the game with 9 men because Jameel Effendy was so happy at scoring that he decided to rest a minor injury so that he could be fit for the "All you can drink for $Cheap" Special at some bar. Substitute Glen singh who made a rare appearance for Pot limped off shortly after coming on midway through the 2nd half. Pot having already made two substitutes did not want to risk the injured John Lappin so we played with 2 men short. The game will best be remembered for Dave Allison grabbing 4 and surely securing the golden boot award, Darrel scoring his first goal of the season and Saleem Mukuddem (who gets mentioned whether he plays well, bad or even when he is not present) for not scoring. Knowing him personally I think he does not want to take advantage of weaker opposition. Next game BAA - Watch this space.

Lobster Pot 2 (Mukuddem, Way) - PHC 2

Why is it that Pot always make it hard for themselves? Maybe we are suckers for punishment.

On a cold and gusty day at White Hill we played a PHC team that had the confidence of already beating us in the first round. This time we thought we would not be caught off guard again. This frequent occurrence of falling asleep during the match once again surfaced and it resulted in PHC scoring from the quickly taken free kick. The fact that the guy was yards off-side did not hide the shortcomings that our defenders were still thinking about their night out last night and being too disorganized to see what happened. In fairness the goal should never have stood. The first quarter of the game was played mostly in the Pot half due to the strong wind we were playing into. Pot got their act together and we played much better football in the 2nd quarter of the match. Jameel Effendy making a few runs from the back a la Wayne Bridge. Dave Allison who passed a late fitness test and the pillow he kicked at home would testify that he was o.k, had another gritty performance upfront with one of his trademark work horse performances. Chris Way also had a solid performance in the engine room. Skipper Curtis Raymond back in the side after his mid season break was still struggling to shrug off his holiday legs. Pot went into half time a goal down and must have been glad to get that half out of the way. After all the game consists of 2 halves.

Having the wind behind the sails Pot were optimistic that they could get something out of this game. That light at the end of the tunnel must have faded when about 10 minutes into the 2nd half the unthinkable happened. Yes, PHC scored....again. It was now Pot 0 - PHC 2. The Pot of old would have thrown in the towel. But as this match reporter has noted before...this is the NEW NEVER SAY DIE Pot. Within a space of 10 minutes Pot drew level. Thanks to goals from Saleem Mukuddem (Yours truly) and Chris Way. Mukuddem this time latched onto a Chris Way through ball and ran the length of the opposition half of the field whilst keeping the defenders at bay and clinically shooting pass the keeper. I will personally make sure that the reporter at the Royal Gazette gets it right this time. Chris Way scored his first for Pot minutes later with a close range angled header from another Jameel Effendy cross. 2-2 and game on with 24 minutes to go. Pot had several chances to clinch it and was camped inside the PHC half. The best of the chances were both headers and the best fell to Saleem Mukuddem who was unmarked in the box and put his header from a Curtis Raymond corner over the bar. I guess Monday night at training we will need to focus on some heading. The other chance fell to Veteran CJ who defied his age with a diving header (belly flop) that flew wide over the posts.

At the end PHC defended valiantly and was glad to hear the final whistle. The draw was certainly consolation prize as it was an improvement over their previous meeting earlier this season, but with a little more time and creativity in midfield Pot would certainly have secured all three points. Better luck, awareness and sharpness next time.

Lobster Pot 2 (Mahadeo, Mukuddem(p)) - Robin Hood 3

Pot will wonder what they have to do to break the voodoo that Hood has over them. Once again Pot competed valiantly only to give it away at the end. The game started at a frantic pace with play largely taking place in the Pot third of the field. Pot however against the run of play struck first blood with a Ken Mahadeo finish from a Chris Way free-kick. The keeper could only parry the free-kick where a unselfish mis-kick by the ever dangerous Dave Allison inadvertently opened the way for Ken to score his first Pot goal in 2 seasons. While Pot fans were celebrating the goal Hood equalized from the penalty spot thanks to another blunder by one of the three blind mice (referee). His decision to apply the law by awarding the Hood a penalty caught all the Hood players by surprise. He also surprised the players on the bench when he ordered them back to the bench after they sought shelter from a freakish thundershower. Why is it that all Bermudian referees get the important calls wrong but they are fantastic at applying the trivia rules. Ben Cooper who stuck to the Hood attacker like glue was adjudged to fowl the Hood attacker inside the box. Even the Hood goalkeeper could have seen that it was outside the box. At half time the game was evenly poised at 1-1. Midway through the 2nd half the Hood attacker got a break from the half way line and managed to keep the Pot defenders at Bay before he shot clinically pass the Pot Keeper Ward, who was slow to come off his line. CJ replaced Dave Allison who appeared to be suffering from a knock he took earlier. This change proved vital as it was the veteran CJ who turned the clock back a few decades when his nifty footwork inside the Hood box mesmerized the Hood defenders who had no alternative but to foul the midfielder. Saleem Mukuddem calmly and confidently converted the penalty and Pot was back in it 2-2. As in the first half it took Hood less than 2 minutes to go ahead once more. The Pot defenders were in la la land when a cross was converted by the Hood attacker who headed unmarked from the back post to clinch it for the Hood. LOBSTER POT 1 (Mukuddem) - PHC 2

(Second half score only, lets forget the first half.)

This game was over as a contest the day the draw was made. Lobster Pot nevertheless played their hearts out for 90 minutes. The result was never in doubt but keeping the scoreline respectable was a major objective. We tend to follow the gaffers instructions to the tee. He wanted us to not concede a goal in the first 15 minutes and this we did. Unfortunately we conceded 3 in the next 6 minutes. 2 were gifts to them for their sustained pressure. The Pot keeper "who shall remain nameless" will not be subjected to that amount of crosses for the entire commercial league season as he did in this one game. Their players were fit, fast and hungry. We were not as fit, not as fast (well most of us) and we only had damage control on our minds. At 5-0 down at half time there was nothing much the gaffer could say to lift the spirits. Chances for Pot was few and far between with the strikers always finding themselves isolated and surrounded by 3 or 4 PHC players. Every Pot player worked his socks off and this was rewarded by a goal in the second half courtesy of a "Giggs-like" run by Saleem Mukuddem (Yours truly) who despite turning 32 tomorrow still outpaced the young energetic PHC defense from just inside the PHC half, to calmly slot the ball past the advancing keeper. Pot missing at least 3 regular starters gave a much improved second half performance and only lost it 2-1. With a change in formation came a change in fortunes. On a day that will be remembered for Jameel Effendy's (2 own goals. He might argue that Brian Ward the Pot Keeper deserves credit for one) and John Lappin taking a dive for a breather rightly so as he was kicked in the @#$#$ with the ball by his own captain Marek Noha. A PHC player exhibited true sportsmanship by offering Lappin a HAND to ease the pain. Final score Lobster Pot 1 - PHC 7.

Pot has come out of this match with their pride and dignity intact and can look forward to a league game with Robin Hood.heck out the Gazette's Write up by Clicking Here

Pot 3 (Allison(2), Effendy)

St Georges 2 Brian Ward + A N Other

Pot Move into Second Place just 2 points behind League Table Toppers 'Tuff Dogs'

Pot went to St Georges on the back of 2 amazing wins against MR Onions and Tuff dogs. They kept their 2004 unbeaten run thanks to a gritty performance against SG. It was definitely a game of 2 halves. Pot dominated the first half and played some fluent attacking play. One had the feeling that they could score at will. Within 25 minutes they were 3-0 up. Dave "the ever dangerous" Allison did his aspirations to win the golden boot no harm by scoring a brace. The first finished off with a delightful chip over the advancing SG keeper. Jameel scored his first for Pot with a clinical strike from the edge of the 18yrd area. The ball beating the SG keeper who dived to his right but could not stop the right winger/fullback's shot. Pot had several chances to add to that score in the first half with near misses and shots hitting the goal posts. SG had a few chances with Brian Ward, the Pot Keeper, making a few fine saves the best being a close range shot that he saved with his eyes closed.

Pot went into half time full of cheer and satisfaction on a first half job well done. After all the manager did request 3 goals by half time. What happened in the 2nd half the football gods only know. The SG players came out hungrier whilst the Pot players appeared to have had their half time drinks spiked with sleeping tablets. Pot Keeper Brian Ward appearing to come off worse as his blunder gifted the SG strikers shot/back pass with a goal. I am sure Brian wished he was an Ostrich so that he could bury his head in the ground after that mistake. The ball trickling passed him and it did not even reach the net at the back.

Pot was not helped by a mute referee who for some reason refused to speak during the game. I am sure Stevie Wonder would have done a better job refereeing than this bloke whose shorts was shorter than Chris Ways. He did manage to send off Ken Mahadeo for what he must have thought to be a professional foul as Ken fouled the SG attacker whilst he was advancing toward the corner flag. He was in front of goal at the time. SG got a 2nd with 15 minutes to go which guaranteed a tight finish. Pot defended as if their lives depended on it and at the end we managed to secure a vital 3 points.

With results elsewhere going in Pot's favour they now sit in a very unfamiliar role of 2nd in the table. Will 2004 be THE year for Lobster Pot? Only time will tell.  Check out the Gazette's Write up by Clicking Here

Pot 2 (Dyer??, Allison)

MR Onions 0

First Time in 7 tries POT beat MR Onions in Regular Season Action!!

I had at least 4 headlines to choose from. 1. Pot only 2 points out of first at the mid way point of the season.  2. Dyer scores first goal of season (and it doesn't get called back) 3. Pot record two straight wins without Mukuddem, (Is the missing ingredient missing Mukuddem?)  I went with First time in in 7 tries POT beat MR Onions in Regular season action.  This drought spans 4 seasons, MR onions are our nemesis. our Lex Luther of football, (Apparently MR Onions team still laughing at this analogy) Record against onions 1-4-2.  The first half was mostly played at a pedestrian pace, POT couldn't get anything going.  MR Onions had the most chances in the first, having 2 corner kicks, and two free kicks from 19 yards out.  All attempts were either thwarted by POT defense, or by keeper Ward (who has now recorded 184 min without conceding a goal spanning 3 games).  POT were lucky going into the half 0-0.  Troy's motivational speech, (you guys all suck, you play like girls, etc) got the POT going, as the POT dominated the second half.  The scoring began with an excellent feed from Effendy to a streaking Dyer down the right side.  Despite playing brilliant for most of the game, backup onions keeper must have been a defensemen left back (European Correction) in his previous life,  because he came way outside the 18 to mark Dyer who chipped it over his head as the entire POT team watched with anticipation as the ball trickled in, and Dyer gets his first point as a POT player (only 9 games in).  After scoring the Goal , Dyer begged to come off and Gribbons subbed in, who himself had two excellent chances, one excellent breakaway only to pull his HAM passing the ball to the keeper.  The second insurance (Apparently only a North American baseball term) goal came from non other than POTs leading goal scorer Allison, who also had a break on Onions keeper and chipped one over his head into the back of the net.  Sing subbed in for Old timer CJ, who played a blinder of a game (Just learned that word from Claire at the Christmas party). Congratulations to KEN who won the coaches mid season award for most consistent player.

Pot 1 (Allison)

Tuff Dogs 0

Lobsterpot knocks off undefeated Table Toppers   Tuff dogs 1-0.

The POT played some of their best football to date with a hard fought victory over  a much younger Tuff Dogs team.  Tuff Dogs had several opportunities in the first half, but each attack was either thwarted off by excellent diving saves by keeper Ward, or by the Excellent clearing from POT Defense, which consisted of Raymond, Noha, Effendy, and Mahadeo.  With 20 Minutes in Tuff Dogs had a Great run and an even better cross to an Open Tuff Dog Player who struck the ball of the crossbar.  Just 5 minutes later Tuff Dogs broke through the impenetrable Defense with a clear one on the keeper chance only to have Noha take him down hard just outside the 18.  A tackle that should have been a red card, Noha was only given a yellow.  On the ensuing free kick, Keeper Ward easily handled the shot fired to to the top left corner.  30 min in Alison had a break away against Tuff Dogs keeper Nelson.  Dave beet the keeper and fired one just off the Post.  Chris Way who's flight to New York this morning was cancelled due to weather in New York, graced us with one of his rare appearances.  Chris angered that he missed his first opportunity to fly to the Big Apple took out his frustrations on the pitch which fired him up to play his best game of the season.  The half time came with POT and Tuff Dogs all locked up at 0 goals a piece.  They second half was played with the same intensity we played the first half.  JP FINALLY scored his first goal with a great header in to the bottom right hand corner, only to have it called offside by a flag happy Tuff Dogs linesman.  All this hard work finally paid off when POT were awarded a free kick from well outside the 18 in the 75 min.  Effendy made a brilliant Cross to the back sticks where Tommy Gribons defied gravity and headed the ball back to Allison who spun around and fired the ball into the back of net. POT-1. Dogs-0.  The POT's defense took over from there as the Tuff dogs couldn't make anything happen in the final 15 minutes.  Subs: Gribbons for Mellor, and Sing for Dyer. Pot 0

Key West 3

Not Particularly the best performance from the Pot this week.  A game in which Key West totally out played us, POT were denied the much needed 3 points to stay close to the top of the standings.  The first goal was scored 20 minutes in, from a corner kick that landed right on the 7 foot 9" Key West player's head 10 yards out, who placed it perfectly in to the top left hand corner of the net over Effendy who had no chance of clearing it.  (KeyWest 1- L.POT 0)  The second Goal came 40 minutes in when Key West Player A. Crichlow who cut across the touchline and chipped the ball to the back post where another key west player was waiting.  Marek made a great attempt to clear the header but it took a funny bounce off the goal line and went in off the post.  (KeyWest 2- L.POT 0).  Because I was standing at the other end of the pitch I could not read the name of the novel the Key West keeper was reading while lying on the ground Taunting the Pot Players to take a shot on net.  The game looked like the POT were playing a man short or Key West was playing with 12, because their always seemed to be an extra unmarked attacker storming in.  After Coach Berkley ripped us all a new A. Hole at half time, the Pot seemed to pick up their game, but unfortunately could not get the ball in the back of the net.  The lone bright spot for one POT player was JP who will no longer be the only person ridiculed for missing 3 attempts from 1 yard out.  Mr. Johnny Lappin managed to kick the ball straight at a Key west defender who was standing on the goal line 3 times on the same play, and the ball somehow managed to land on top of the net.  With 10 minutes left 2 unmarked key west players were storming down either side, A. Chrichlow fired a shot that keeper Ward who dove, and somehow miraculously managed to get a hand on it and deflect the ball wide, but it hit the opposite post and came out for the other unmarked Key west player to tap the ball into the empty net. (KeyWest 3- L.POT 0).  Sub: Thomas Gribbin for Colin James 75th Minitue

Pot 2 (Mukuddem, Allison)

North Village 1

A hard fought match captured 3 points for the home side POT whose record improves to 3-1-2.  North Village stuck first blood in the 15th minute by an excellent run down the line and great finish by striking the ball over keeper Ward who could only watch the ball dip down into the top right hand corner.  North village 1-0.  10 minutes later A free kick was awarded to POT just over the center line, Raymond fired a long bomb to the back post where Mukuddem was waiting and placed in a brilliant header into the top right corner. North Village-1 - POT-1.  In the 40th minute Mukuddem made one of his patented runs down the right side skinning several Village players and placing the ball right on "Ever Dangerous" Allison's foot who beat the last defender and North Village keeper to put the Pot up 2-1 at the half.  The second half saw Lobsterpot playing into  Tropical force winds for the final 45 min.  With 20 min left Tommy Gribbon's was brought on for "Old Timer" CJ who controlled the middle of the pitch for 70 minutes. Despite being out shot 17-2 in the second half the Pot were able to hang on for a well deserved victory.  Check out the Gazette's Write up by Clicking Here

November 8th 2003

Pot 0

BAA Wanderers 1

For the first time this season and Pre season the Pot were kept off the score sheet.  Again with the POT dominating the entire game, we were unable to capitalize on several occasions.  BAA opened the scoring in the 20th minute when 2 BAA strikers broke passed the normally impenetrable POT defense outside the 18.  With 2 unchallenged BAA players storming down and what looked like an obvious offside forward pass, the unchallenged BAA player crossed the ball to the other unmarked BAA striker who headed it into the empty net.  BAA 1-0.  The second Half saw Allison come on for Gribbin who earlier had a confrontation with BAA keeper and ex-teammate John Dorian, with several words exchanged and an excellent "Dive" by BAA keeper to make it look like Gribbin head butted him, both were given warnings and a drop kick was awarded.  With 10 minutes left in the Game,  JP, who had an excellent game and setup several opportunities was subbed in for a blast from the past, Tim Shave.  Unable to shake things up, the whistle blew and Pot were denied the 3 points they should have had.

Pot 3 (Raymond(2), Allison)

Devonshire All Stars 1

Not the best performance of the year, but 3 points none the less.  With the ball in the opponents end 90% of the first half, the POT were unable to capitalize.  The 1st half was mostly played at a pedestrian pace, with Devonshire setting the tone, the pot seemed to slow down to their level instead of playing at their usual lightning fast pace.  After the half saw old timer CJ come off the bench to help stabilize the midfield. After 60 min of play Raymond fired a long bomb from well behind the 18 into the top right corner of the net 1-0 Lobsterpot.  After 70 min, and back from injury, Chris came in off the bench to replace ken who had a great game.  After the pot were unable to capitalize on a free kick, Raymond once again came in and fired another well placed ball into the net from well outside the 18 (Although I do believe it deflected off a Devonsire player) Raymond's third of the season. With Allison nervous that Raymond could be going into Game 5 as the teams top scorer, Dave potted an insurance goal for his third of the season.  New comer Tommy Gribbins made his POT debut with 2 excellent opportunities just missing.  More goals from him this season are sure to come.  With 5 min remaining, Devonshire managed to get one of their own from an excellent header from Ward to the foot of a Devonsire player, who chipped it passed him.

Cheers

Brian

2 Points slipped away as Pot Drew with Robin hood.  A game which Lobsterpot dominated for the first 60 min started with excellent cross from JP to Mukuddem who ended up hitting the ball right at the keeper.  To make up for his opening blunder, Saleem took the ball from the half way line and beat out the entire Robin hood team, including the keeper and tapped the ball into the net, 1-0 Lobsterpot.  With the Pot up 1-0 after the half, just 5 min in, Dave Allison fired the ball into the back of the net to go up 2-0.  The last 20 min was all Robin hood who scored twice to even the score.  Despite being outplayed in the last 20 min, the pot missed two chances of their own during that time.  Truly a game in which Pot were the better team. Pot 3 (Noha, Allison, Raymond)

St Georges 2

A much needed and deserved win for Pot.  The scoring started with a brilliant header from a nice cross to star mid fielder Marek Noha into the top left hand corner of goal.  No one was more surprised than Marek himself, who scored his first goal in his sophomore year as a Pot player.  The 1 sided refereeing saw power striker Mukuddem taken down not once but twice in the box with no whistle.  After a shot on goal Pot keeper easily held on to the ball only to see a St. Georges player come full tilt into Ward knocking the ball out of his hand.  The quick keeper swiftly recovered the ball only to have the Ref call a free kick against the Pot for picking up the ball twice in the box????  The free kick was drilled into the top corner of the net.  After being in shock the kick was awarded to St. George's, and not the Pot, Ward lost his normal cool and collective demeanor and cussed out loud only to have the referee award Ward his annual Red Card.  With the Pot down a player for the remaining 60 min the Pot still dominated the game, with ample opportunities missed including a nightmare JP will live with for the rest of his football career missing 2 cracks from within 16 inches (yes 16 inches) into an empty St. Georges net.  Both feeble attempts saw the ball get stuck in the water that was accumulated from the torrential down pour.  60 Minutes into the game saw substitute Allison come on and put the Pot ahead 2-1 with a scrappy goal in front of the net.  15 minutes later St. George's struck back with a corner Kick deflected past a frozen Noha who played brilliant in net.  With 15 minutes left and about 30 yards out, power kicker Raymond fired a ball, that everyone was sure would be launched into orbit rather than hit the intended target.  St Georges keeper mishandled the ball and Pot went up 3-2 and never looked back.

Next Game is against Robin Hood at 1:00pm at Bernard Park.  A win here will see the Pot close to the top of the standings.

PHC 2

Lobsterpot 1 (Mukuddem)

Not the result we were looking for today, and a lot of good chances went wasted.  After two good runs by Saleem and Dave with no result, PHC made a run of there own and placed a well stuck ball inside of 12 yards around the Diving keeper Ward 20 min into the opening half.  The Pot continued to have chances but couldn't put the ball in the back of the goal.

With 10 min left in the game PHC were awarded a controversial free kick inside the 18.  The free kick was passed to an un marked PHC player who tapped it in to make the score 2-0.  The last 10 minutes was all Pot, whom played with determinitation and passion.  A key substitution saw the retired Coach Troy Berkley come on to make a nice cross to Saleem who fired a shot past PHC keeper with 3 min left.  Despite the heroics of Pot keeper Ward (editors rendition) who stoned PHC on numerous occasions including stopping a penalty kick was a little too late as time ran out on the Pot who were getting Stronger.
