Former Bermuda national team player Derek Scott
resigned as Robin Hood coach after his side’s 2-1 defeat at PHC,
claiming his methods were being undermined by team-mates.
In a stinging e-mail sent to club members, Scott said: “At this stage of
my life and football career, I do not need to be dealing with the egos,
especially in my free time!”
He attacked various unnamed individuals, including a player/club
official who pulled out of the squad because he was not picked, a player
with a good history with the club who left the bench and ground without
informing him and a player for not phoning to say he couldn’t train or
make matches.
Scott wrote: “I find these actions very disrespectable, I will not have
it or deserve it.
“I have always enjoyed wearing a RHFC jersey and hope to continue to do
so, but will spend my quality time concentrating on the last days of my
football game I have remaining.”
Hood, champions for several years running, scored early in the second
half through a strike by the advancing Brian Fubler from the edge of box
after he had robbed a PHC player in midfield.
PHC substitute Keith Bell sent in a long cross for Sammy Swan to
equalise and both players then helped set up Michael Trott’s winner.
Hood’s indifferent season so far has benefited traditional rivals BAA
Wanderers but their loss to Key West on Saturday has put Tuff Dogs on
top through goal difference.
Dogs’ record is even more impressive considering they have played two
games fewer than their top of the table rivals because team weddings
have interrupted their schedule.
They continued their 100 percent record with a 3-1 victory over MR
Onions – a week after knocking them out of the cup by the same score.
Onions started well with lots of possession and Nick Briggs scored from
a scuffed shot after 20 minutes. Tuff Dogs equalised two minutes from
the break with Carlos Lopes’ headed goal from the edge of the box. Dogs
went ahead with a Quinton Burgess 20-yard smash into corner of the net
while Jeff Franklin netted from a cross for the third.
Key West knocked previous table-toppers BAA off their perch with a Craig
Critchlow winner after Martin Jones had cancelled out Sergio Griffin’s
first-half strike.
Lobster Pot are in fourth place after triumphing over North Village in a
hard fought match at White Hill. Village stuck first in the 15th minute
with an excellent run down the line rounded off with a dipping shot. Pot
equalised ten minutes later with Saleem Mukuddem heading a free kick
into the top right corner.
In the 40th minute Mukuddem made one of his patented mazy runs down the
right before crossing for Dave Allison to finish. Despite numerous
Village goal attempts in the the second half, Pot clung on.
At the foot of the table, Devonshire All Stars picked up their first
victory – 3-0 –over winless St. George’s All Stars through Arnold Todd,
John Corday and a Kenneth Dill penalty.
In Commercial B action, joint leaders Somerset Falcons and Dockyard
Falcons both tumbled.
Falcons went down 2-0 to Devonshire Lions. Bridge lost 3-2 to Valley who
went three up through goals from Sean Smith, Troy Simons and MacDonald
Simmons and a late Bridge rally through Troy Smith and Jerome Richard
was not enough to save the day.
Pest Control went two up in the first half against Prison Officers
through goals by Ashley Darling and Jamie Matthews only to crumble in
the second half as Officers netted with goals from Aaron Adams,
A.Brangman and D.Richards.
Wolves beat Prospect/Fire 4-2 with a brace from Casey Burgess and one
each from Kevin Hendrikson and Sean Smith with Dean Martin and Darren
Smith netting for the away side.
Out of form Somerset Extros lost again against Vasco Mariners.
Vasco scored through Michael Bean and a Jason DeCouto brace while Troy
Thompson netted for Extros with a second half penalty.
