2003-2004 - PRE SEASON

October 10th 2003

I have worked out an arrangement with Prospect Primary School to use there pitch Monday night from 6:00pm until 8:00pm.

Training is now changed from Tuesday night to Monday night (Only day Avail).  Once and if Prospect Gym field lights ever work again we can move our training back to Tuesday night.

For those who do not know where it is, it's just up 6 friendship Lane, the road directly across from Devonshire Rec, just off Frog lane.

(Just down the road from our current training field)

Some of their lights are not working but she said she will have them fixed soon, but there is plenty of light to train.

Cheers,

Brian

Lobsterpot-1  (Dave Allison)

BAA Wanderers-0

Excellent effort yesterday against BAA even though we started with 10 men as Chris had to take a last minute 5hitt.

With the score 0-0 after the half, an excellent feed to Dave Alison led to a controversial off side goal,  after winning the debate (as Chris Way was the ref in the second half) the pot was awarded the goal.  A late tackle inside the 18 awarded BAA a penalty kick.  The sheer intimidation and how small the net must have looked after seeing Pot's keeper Ward in the net caused the BAA striker to hit the ball wide and off the post and then safely cleared away.  The pot missed plenty of chances to score including a 3 on 1 with the keeper and no result.

Please keep Next SATURDAY open, as we are trying to arrange a game against Tuff dogs witch may prove to be our toughest match of

the pre season.

Training as usual Tomorrow, Please be there for 5:30 as sun now sets at 7:06.  We are still looking for a training pitch with lights.  If any one

has any suggestions please let me know. the BFA have said they are getting the lights fixed at our training field, but the likely hood of them

being in working condition before the new year is highly unlikely.

Cheers,

Brian

Lobsterpot-7

Fatboys-1

Lobsterpot's undefeated pre season record is still in tact with a rather convincing victory over Fat Boys.  After a slow start with the score 0-0 at the half, the lobsterpot woke up and scored a flurry of goals.  3 scored by Dave Allison, 2 by Glen, 1 by Tillman, 1 by JP.   If I missed any goals let me know as I think I lost track of score after 7. We may have won by more.   The season is probably delayed this year due to the pitches not being ready from the hurricane, so we will continue to have pre season games.  Next game is this Sunday vs. BAA. The following week we'll try and get a game against one of the better teams in the league "Tuff Dogs".

Cheers

Brian

Lobsterpot-1 Colin James(1)

Robin Hood-1

Another fine performance from Lobsterpot last night as we came from behind to tie the game up with a brilliant goal scored by the Pot's veteran Colin James with 20 min left in the game to keep the Pots undefeated pre season record in tact.  The pot missed ample opportunities including a missed penalty shot by Dave Allison Who shot a dribbler straight at the keeper.

We have no game scheduled for this weekend.  Training next Tuesday 5:45pm at prospect training pitch.  Also a game against Fat boys who think there "phat" but are simply just Fat on Wednesday Night 5:45 at Prospect pending the grass being cut. (W&E are still on strike)

I'm also trying to line up a game against Tuff Dogs or BAA for Next Sunday so keep that day open.

 Cheers

Brian

August 18 2003

Fitness work tomorrow night so you might want to bring runners along. Also $100 subs from those of the League squad not yet paid and $20 from those just training would be appreciated, as would return of playing kits, or at least notification of which of the red & white/yellow & black kits you have and what number so I can work out how many we have of which strip.

Please can as many as possible of you turn up as training is now meant to be, as far as we can, purely Pot lads as we shake off the summer cobwebs and prepare for our pre-season friendlies to start in a week or two.

Cheers

Since the pot has nothing notable to write about, we can salute our now most famous 2 sport player for his performance in this years cup match.

Mukuddem named Cup Match MVP

Cup Match colt and Western Stars all-rounder Saleem Mukuddem has finally been named as the Most Valuable Player for this year's Cup Match - more than a week after the game finished.
The title this year was adjudicated by only one man - the third official at the game, Lester Harnett.
Mukuddem faced some stiff competition for the award in the form of St. George's batsmen Charlie Marshall and Clay Smith, who both scored centuries, and his Somerset team-mate Janeiro Tucker, who blasted 90 in the cup holders' first innings.
But he ultimately prevailed in the light of his almost chanceless 106 not out on his debut - the record for a colt - as well as match bowling figures of two for 57.
The man-of-the-match award is being sponsored this year for the first time by the Bank of Butterfield and the presentation ceremony will take place at Somerset Cricket Club's prize giving, scheduled for August 28.

August 11th 2003

Tomorrow night is the first of the beach fitness sessions, meeting at Horseshoe Bay ready for a 6.30pm start. This will take the form of a few miles around the dunes before shuttles up the hills and a well earned dip! Running shoes will be needed, but it may be best to bring some old ones as they'll get very sandy and possibly wet. As I said before, it may be hard going at times, but we will all feel the benefit once we start playing our pre-season games and then kick-off the league season.
